About Sesame Organisation

Sesame Organisation is an anti-racist charity employing intersectional approaches to promote racial harmony for the public benefit and to relieve the needs of those experiencing or at risk of poor mental health, particularly amongst persons of East and Southeast Asian (ESEA) heritages. We achieve this through our free mental health services, and our training and education for all which tackles racism and promotes equity.

Our Mission

  1. The promotion of racial harmony for the public benefit by:

    a) promoting knowledge and mutual understanding between different racial groups;

    b) advancing education and raising awareness about different racial groups to promote good relations between persons of different racial groups;

    c) working towards the elimination of discrimination on the grounds of race.

  2. To relieve the needs of those experiencing or at risk of poor mental health, particularly amongst persons of East and Southeast Asian Heritage, including those from Mixed Heritage in the UK, this will be achieved by (without limitation) offering access to therapy sessions, cultural competence training, befriending support services, conducting research, providing information surrounding mental health and providing activities that are directed towards relieving the effects of stress to provide comfort and relaxation.

What We Do

  • We support East and Southeast Asian community members through culturally competent mental health services and community events

  • We offer training and education for all, through cultural competence training

  • We build and support a coalition of anti-racist and migrant justice organisations

Services

  • We research and campaign on hate faced by people of East and Southeast Asian heritage including but not limited to reports and surveys

  • We hold Community Conversations, workshops and empowering talks on anti-racism and supporting victims of racism

  • We hold advocacy events such as fundraising livestreams, and fundraising events such as community kitchens, heritage celebrations, etc.

  • We partner and engage with other ESEA, mental health, anti-racist and migrant justice organisations across the UK to grow a strong, multi-faceted, supportive community
